Holiday show season in full swing

No sooner is Halloween a memory than we artists are in the midst of holiday show season. I started last weekend in Edmonds with a beautifully organized show in its 35th year, and continue this weekend in Samammish.

Saturday's show is at Eastlake High School from 9am to 4pm and this will be the second year of a Red Delicious booth at the show. I'm looking forward to seeing many of my Eastside customers there.

The following weekend I'll be at the Best of the Northwest's Fall show at the Seattle Center, a three-day extravaganza of art and crafts. This is a mammoth undertaking in preparation and execution, so I'll be taking next week off from Pike Place Market.

Holiday shows are always hard work. I have to build up inventory, challenging when I'm at maximum production anyway during the rest of the year. And they are physically taxing as I have to haul around a lot of stuff - bags and booth fixtures. It's amazing how much you can squeeze into a Honda Civic hatchback!

They are also fun, with a festive atmosphere and the chance to meet lots of customers new and old who are usually having a fun time shopping for gifts and a few personal treats. I also love seeing artists who are old friends at these shows and making new artist friends.

The final holiday show will be at the Phinney Neighborhood Center in December, a show I've done for the last two years and enjoyed tremendously. All the information about shows and my attendance at Pike Place Market in the holiday season can be seen on the Red Delicious website News page.
