This is my fifth year as a vendor at the Redmond Saturday Market, so it was lovely to set up there for the first time this season last weekend and to receive a warm welcome from the faithful market patrons.
Many people told me they were wondering if I'd be back - the Market opened for business at the start of May - and they were glad to see me. And many of them followed through with purchases of bags and accessories.
I particularly like it when people tell me that it's their turn for a bag, after buying bags for others over the years. That happened twice on Saturday. And several others were adding to their Red Delicious collection, equally flattering as it's solid proof that they appreciate and enjoy my products.
Redmond is such a quality market, which is why I keep going back each season. It's an even split between produce and crafts - unusual when most markets, including Pike Place, make crafts inferior to produce. Plus it's so well run by the ever-pleasant and firm but fair Joanne Westlund, which makes my life so much easier.
And there are so many delightful vendors there, several of whom have become close friends over the years. I always look forward to seeing these people once again after the winter break and marvelling over the quality of their art work.
I'll be returning to Redmond through the season, depending on my Pike Place schedule and the weather (it's really no fun setting up a canopy and being under it when it's pouring cats and dogs!). I'll post updates on the News page of the Red Delicious website.
